The National to play free Columbus show Wednesday in support of Obama

Indie rock power The National is based on Brooklyn, but the bandmembers all hail from Cincinnati, and they'll be back in their home state this week for a pair of free shows in support of Barack Obama's presidential campaign. They'll play Columbus this Wednesday at the Newport, followed by a show Thursday in Cincinnati at the Emery Theater. As for the Columbus show, doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is free, but you have to sign up for Obama's mailing list to RSVP.

Alive doesn't take sides during campaign season, but we definitely endorse The National. Whether or not you opt to attend Wednesday's show, please enjoy frontman Matt Berninger acting like Dos Equis' "Most Interesting Man In The World" in the "Bloodbuzz Ohio" video. Stay thirsty, my friends.
