Fleetwood Mac

Big batch of concert announcements headlined by two huge gets for Columbus-area music:

First of all, Wilco and John Prine have been tapped to headline Nelsonville Music Festival, going down May 30-June 2 at Hocking College, just an hour down US-33. If you're familiar with the fest, you realize this is yet another coup in a series of coups that has made Stuart's Opera House's little music party among the best events in Ohio. If you're not familiar, check my 2011 feature and peruse last year's lineup. So far they've also revealed Reigning Sound, Cotton Jones, Wooden Indian Burial Ground, beloved Columbus combo Nick Tolford & Company, The D-Rays and The County Pharaohs, with many more bands to come. Tickets for all four days will go on sale Jan. 2 for $90.

Even bigger news, perhaps, is that Fleetwood Mac will kick off its reunion tour April 4 at Nationwide Arena. (Unfortunately, this tour is not being branded as "Return of the Mac," but there's still time! Contact your senator.) Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17 for $49.50 to $149.50.

Not quite as momentous for most folks, but certainly for those with ties to the Columbus punk and experimental scene, is the return of DFA Records' Sinkane, the project led by Columbus expat Ahmed Gallab. (We caught up with Gallab last May when Sinkane played Carabar.) He'll be at Double Happiness on Feb. 17 for just $5.

What else is on the docket? Lots!

George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic will be at the LC on Feb. 16. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. for $28.

Intriguing but somewhat obnoxious hybrid band WHY? will play Ace of Cups on Feb. 18. Tickets are on sale now for $12. Astronautalis and Dream Tiger round out the bill.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals return to Newport Music Hall on Jan. 30. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday for $22.

Also returning to the Newport: Martin Sexton, who'll headline Feb. 15. Those tickets also go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday for the price of $20.

Lastly, hipster rapper Darwin Deez will be at Ace of Cups on March 25. Tickets for this one go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for a price TBA.
