What would happen if local fashion design met Top Chef?

Couture Cuisine inspiration and co-host, Kelli Martin.

Alternative Fashion Mob is a new collective meant to democratize the industry in Columbus. The Mob, composed of independent fashion designers and supporters, has several events this inaugural year, one of which is May 5’s Couture Cuisine event at Explorers Club restaurant.

The evening includes a six-course dinner with wine pairings and a fashion show of the clothing that inspired executive chef Dan Varga to make the recipes.  Each course features fare inspired by the aesthetic of a local designer.

For example:  “COURSE THREE: White Trash Royalty. Start with a rich, buttery faux gras patty. Top it with house-cured bacon and a quail egg. Smother it with tart cherry ketchup and arugula pesto. Then nestle it on a brioche bun and serve with a side of truffle fries. You’ve never had such a sophisticated slider.” The inspiration? Kelli Martin’s line Anti.Label.

Clever. Read through the rest here.
