The LC Outdoor Pavilion will get a workout late summer/early autumn.

Yikes! Big day for Columbus concert announcements, headlined by outdoor shows at the LC by Queens of the Stone Age and Phoenix - not at the same time, though that would be sweet.

Josh Homme and company will be bringing their talents to the LC on Sept. 15. Tickets are $39.50, and, if you're wondering, will be worth every penny. I know nothing will unseat Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" as our collective jam of Summer 2013, but I nominate "My God Is the Sun." I present this freaky little nightmare as evidence:

French rockers Phoenix is also taking it outside at the LC on October 3 (love those outdoor shows when the weather starts to turn), and they should be well-practiced at revving up a big crowd after a summer of playing every festival they can. Phoenix tickets will run $29.50.

Also announced today:

• The best punk band of the '90s? I say Rancid. Decide for yourself on September 12 at the Newport.

• Rockers The Virginmarys (think Arctic Monkeys) will play a CD102.5 Low Dough Show ($5) on July at the Basement. It's the third time they've come to town in the last six months. I'm declaring them Columbus' Unofficial UK House Band.

• Hanni El Khatib will also play the Basement on October 5 (with Bass Drum of Death!).

• The feel-good summer sounds of Michael Franti & Spearhead come to the Newport on September 24.
