This Saturday two of Downtown newest, and most welcomed, establishments will putting on a hell of a party. The Hills Market Downtown and Grass Skirt Tiki Room present the Downtown Luau from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a host of festivities. Below is the event description from The Hills Market’s website.
The Grass Skirt and The Hills Market Downtown are pairing up to celebrate summer with a Downtown Luau on Saturday, June 8th from 11:30 to 8 p.m.
The Hills Market will provide fire-roasted Hawaiian pork sandwiches ($8) made by Slow Food Columbus from Athens, Ohio's Red Wattle hogs served alongside a tropical fruit salad, while the Grass Skirt provides signature tiki drinks, coconut sangria and plenty of PBR and Red Stripe for the thirsty. We'll have plenty of delicious fare for our vegetarian friends, as well. Little Eater will be on site with their locally sourced veggie- and grain-based salads.
Live music by Francis Lacuna (12-2 p.m.), RaymondTVinyl (2-4), The Twits (4-6 p.m.) and members of Apocalypso (6-8 p.m.) will happen all day, as well as some ukulele action and even a sideshow performer or two, all in the heart of the Discovery District.
We're able to put together this event with the help from the following sponsors: Columbus Crave, Cruzan Rum, Little Eate, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Red Stripe and Slow Food Columbus.
Sand volleyball courts were recently installed across the street, and should be up and running in time for the Downtown Luau. Money from the Downtown Luau will be The Fraternal Order of the Maio and it cause Cure CMD (Congenital Muscular Dystrophy).
