Basic cable bad movie sensation will have theatrical showings at the Gateway Film Center and Studio 35; sequel also planned.

It's been a good week for movies about shark tornados.

After the Syfy original movie/Twitterbait "Sharknado" took social media by storm, two local independent theaters are hopping on the sharkwagon with theatrical showings. Tara Reid on the big screen? What is this, 1999?

The Gateway Film Center announced a "sharksclusive" showing of the film on August 2. Clintonville's Studio 35 is also planning a free screening of the film this Thursday, July 18, at 7 p.m.

Syfy - and let's not talk about the stupid-ass rebranding of their name - has also green-lit a sequel. Just when you thought it was safe to go back ... well, anywhere a shark tornado can get you.
