They go hard on stage, but Ohio-based metalheads Skeletonwitch have a soft spot of animals.

In honor of the 10 year anniversary of Serpents Unleashed, a hand screened 180-gram vinyl edition of the album was made available to fans, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting the Athens Humane Society and Columbus Pets Without Parents. Band members will be on hand to present a check on March 28 to Pets Without Parents, located at 629 Oakland Park Ave. The band presented the Athens Humane Society their check earlier in the week.

"We have more than a dozen animals between us," guitarist Scott Hedrick said. "We wanted the money to go to a cause we believed in."

According to Prosthetic Records Publicist Kelly Walsh, the albums sold out in just over three minutes and raised $4,200 altogether, which will be split between the two agencies.

This makes us feel better about watching all those cute cat videos between Slayer songs on Youtube.
