Columbus alt-country darling Lydia Loveless is everywhere — including, apparently, the pages of a recent Playboy (the word parts, not the picture parts) — but her cover of Kesha's "Blind" pushed her to the front of Buzzfeed's Music section recently. And she was featured by SPIN. Again. They, like, totally love her and want to have 10,000 of her babies.
The cover will be released as the B-side of Lydia's Record Store Day release, "Mile High." Give a listen to the Kesha cut here.
(I know at least one other Columbus singer who shares Lydia's (unironic) love of Kesha, as Wet Darlings' singer Jenny Lute has also been known to don the glitter for a Kesha show.)
Bonus: In other Lydia-does-pop news, here's a video snippet I caught at Lydia's Rumba Cafe show last March of her doing a soulful solo cover of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream."
