FeMMeFest, which didn’t even exist a matter of weeks ago, is starting to take final shape.
The newborn music fest formed in response to Fashion Meets Music Festival’s selection of controversial R&B singer R. Kelly as headliner of its inaugural event, and planning hasn’t slowed since Kelly and FMMF mutually parted ways in the wake of public backlash.
At the time, FeMMeFest organizers posted a statement that read, in part, “We have already begun the path to positive action, and we see no reason to stop now.”
Most recently, Saintseneca, which was scheduled to play FMMF before withdrawing due to Kelly’s inclusion, announced it would be performing at FeMMeFest, headlining a show at Strongwater on Sunday, Aug. 31.
FeMMeFest is slated to take over a network of local venues Labor Day weekend, and all proceeds will be donated to the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence.
