While at Basi last week, I noticed a lady waiting on a bench wearing eye-catching shoes; that she was wearing absolutely nothing else -- and was headless -- was even more eye-catching. No, I'm not going perv on you -- that decapitated, naked partier was just a wacky mannequin. Still, once you find out about Basi's "Vino on the Veranda" Thursday night soirees, you might lose your head having fun out there too (but keep your clothes on, ok?).
See, every Thursday, Basi augments its already good wine deals with a visit from a vintner, wine rep or distributor who, in a very low-key way, will answer questions and let you try and/or buy their products even by the case (four-glass flights are generally less than $20). It's pretty unstructured, and there's no committment whatsoever. Basically, it's just a low-impact way for the restaurant and its patrons to gently get nudged toward new wines they might be interested in. Here's a few pics of a fun dinner I had last week on Basi's pretty urban garden patio:

Reinvented Caesar, bowl of gazpacho
Scallops w/ Peach Coulis & Slaw
