Last Thursday evening, the Capital Area Humane Society hosted its annual "Celebrity Chef" event at Huntington Park, and as usual, there was lots of great food, folks, fun, & critters.
I had a nice little "chaat" w/ this Bhel Puri street-food type snack from Banana Leaf Cafe
Country Pate and Scallop Mousseline (wittily shaped into a semblance of its former self) seem to be the things The Refectory always brings to the party--hey if it ain't broke!
This Meyer lemon-kissed, lovely Tuna Tartar from Basi Italia transcended the overplayed tuna tartars out there. Similarly, the lovely Johnny & Trish of team Basi (pictured) transcend your basic upscale restauranteurs.
The Jerk Chicken and Red Beans & Rice from Ena's Caribbean Kitchen was some seriously spicy stuff!
Loved the hot & sweet partnering of the Chipotle Sauced Chorizo meatball and Bacon-wrapped date from Barrio Tapas
Nothing wrong w/ a simple Shrimp cocktail, this one was from Fresh Market
The Butterscotch Panna Cotta from Z Cucina is one of the frequent party guests I always anticipate catching up with. In fact I had a couple of "whadda ya been up to?" convos w/ it.
And, the reason behind the entire event, adorable adoptable dogs and cats!
