The inaugural outing of Venture Club, the outdoors group I started a whie back, was a great succes, as four stalwart adventurers hiked about five miles at Highbanks Metro Park on the North Side. The weather was great, as was the conversation and the birding. (I've found that birding is a tougher sell than hiking. Sorry for laggin' behind, DeVille.)

We joined many locals at the park for the Winter Hike Series, which I previewed in the paper last month. Our journey led us to the Overlook and Dripping Rock trails; both were picturesque, even in the winter season. I spotted numerous species of birds. (See them after the jump.)
