(Valérie Jodoin-Keaton photo) Artist: Albert Hammond Jr. Track: "Bargain of the Century" Album: Como te LLama Listen

Nothing much jumped out at me on Hammond's debut record, but this song is a perfect mix of two sounds I really love: the street-level grit of The Strokes and the sunny, nostalgic sounds of his father, Albert Hammond, creator of the genius "It Never Rains in Southern California." Be sure to wait out the first set of bars, which sound like a mediocre Strokes rip; the song does a complete 180 and legitimizes the bouncy, repetitious guitar meddling in the beginning.
