Artist: Black Kids Track: "Look at me (When I Rock Wichoo)" Album: Partie Traumatic Listen

Black Kids have gotten plenty of hype -- the type that usually turns me off before I turn it on -- but I figured I'd give it a shot. For the most part, I glad this bandwagon passed me by. This indie-electronic duo plays similar sounds of many contemporaries -- cleaner and slower than Hot Hot Heat, happier than The Killers, more subdued (and slightly more clever) than The Bravery.

It's not until the very last song on their debut full-length that the swishy-swish melts away, and the band actually sounds like they're having fun -- not just ironically poking fun at those who dance around and do so.
