Artist: Take No Damage Track: "Future Warfare" Album: Shambles Listen

Regis Duffy has been busy promoting the bands on his local label, All Hail Records, so any release from Take No Damage, his quirky and very unique rock band, is a plus. Cherry on top: This eight-song EP is great from start to finish. Take No Damage is equally indebted to The Violent Femmes and the Dust Brothers -- and thus, in some ways, classic Beck -- and its music wavers between sunny folk-rock about just being chilled as eff and avant-garde, sample-based assaults that question the existence of God. Much rests somewhere in the middle, in an edgy, bizarre alternative universe that the band has made its own.
