Artist: TV on the Radio Track: "Golden Age" Album: Dear Science Listen

Paying a heavier debt to Prince than anything the band has ever released, "Golden Age" is both the first single from TV on the Radio's upcoming release, out Sept. 23, and one of the best songs of the year. Produced perfectly, it's at once groovy, heady and layered in a similar fashion to the best cuts from Return to Cookie Mountain. Plus, the band seems to be experimenting even more freely with sythnesizers.

The band has often discussed the complications of race in pop music -- and has said that maintaining an air of seriousness is crucial for black musicians to be taken seriously. On this track, the band seems to be having more fun. With product this excellent, being taken seriously shouldn't be a problem.

Also, if you want to see them, looks like your best bet is on Oct. 18 at Bogart's in Cincinnati.
