Artist: Blitzen Trapper Track: "Furr" Album: Furr Listen

This track is a breath of fresh air, a single not like any I've heard yet this year. That's somewhat odd, considering this Portland, Oregon, group borrows so much from The Band, Bob Dylan, Mungo Jerry, Wilco and the inimitable Gram Parsons.

Blitzen Trapper has gained attention and acclaim (sometimes not in that order) for touring with Fleet Foxes, this year's hottest indie sensation. But while the Foxes also use the above-mentioned influences, their scope is larger, their intent more grandiose, their tone often much colder. Trapper, on the other hand, succeed because they are focused, immediate and personal -- the way things might have sounded inside Big Pink.
