In my quest to analyze the entirety of 2008 music for year-end lists, I've uncovered lots of records forgotten from earlier months. One is London Zoo -- the hyperactive, completely dense project helmed by DJ and producer Kevin Martin. Under the alias The Bug and with help from numerous vocalists, he's woven an intricate portrait of the deep bass/hyperdub scene that congregates around London. He then took it to another level.

It's wholly infectious, even for those (like me) who aren't well-versed in the genres he manipulates at will. Much like the work of Dizzee Rascal, the impact comes from emotion and intensity, not understanding the context or, in many cases, even the words.
