View larger image Several hundred gathered along the front slope to watch about 60 skiers and snowboarders huck themselves off a six-foot kicker, vying for the best stunt and lots of merch.

View larger image I'm not sure if this was the guy who knocked himself out cold -- Ski Patrol was called in -- but he didn't have the best run here.

View larger image Judges were looking for trick difficulty, amplitude and style. This dude has plenty of all three with a giant shifty air down a good chunk of the landing slope.

View larger image I was surprised that more skiers than snowboarders entered the event. But even as the sliding trend ebbs backward to two planks, the sport continues to borrow from its younger cousin. Grabs and hella-sweet spins were common. Even a few inverts made their way in.
