This month, colorful, delicate tropical flowers take center stage at the Franklin Park Conservatory.
“Each year we find a new way to highlight the orchid’s beauty and mystique,” said Bruce A. Harkey, Franklin Park's executive director. “Visitors will be able to view the orchid up close along the rocks, water features, and tropical foliage.”
Here are some orchid-related events to check out: On Valentine's Day, the conservatory will offer free admission for Orchids, Wine and Chocolate, running from 5-10 p.m. Live music and the beauty of the Pacific Island Water Garden will be on tap. Tasting tickets cost $3. If you and Cupid have other plans, the Orchid Forest exhibit runs through March 1. Numerous classes, lectures and tours will be offered to show off one of the specialties of the Near East Side conservatory.
