If you look closely, that's me hanging about 75 feet above the forest floor. Need I say more to get you to try one of the arbor excursions hosted by EarthJoy? This should be it. I highly endorse the three-hour program, which runs weekends at the same Rockbridge golf course that hosts the infamous zip line.

I'm not particularly fond of heights, but instructors Bill and Shelly Byrne have a way of convincing you to come out of your comfort zone. After your safety harness is strapped into high-end climbing rope -- they use the trusty double rope technique -- you'll be climbing high, swinging in hammocks and rescuing stuffed animals hanging from elevated branches. It's a blast.

For $75, you'll get to climb a few trees and ride a giant specially designed catapult. You've never seen trees like this.
