The course was perfect last weekend, hard-packed and fast. The weather cooperated, too, with clear skies and a slight breeze. Still, the 24 Hours of Mohican -- held Saturday at a campground near Loundonville -- was grueling.

If you're not familiar with this bout of endurance mountain biking, the event involves running a 10-mile off-road course as many times as possible in a single day. You can compete with a four-person team or run it solo. Both options are pretty insane.

Hats off to all the riders who ran an amazing race and sponsors Marathon, Kenda Tires, Ohio State Parks, Biowheels, Endura Clothing, Sigma Sport, Cannondale, Ryders Eyewear and Idutri.

Plenty of photos after the jump...

View larger image Laps are recorded at a scorer's table. Teams pass a small wooden baton, just like in a normal relay race. Gabe Rainwater's 18 laps broke the course record set last year by Chop Meeks (*Edit: I originally said that the record was held by Olympian Tinker Juarez. Sorry for any confusion...)
