This weekend the North Market rolls out the barrels for its third-annual Microbrew Festival.

If, like most sentient beings, your eyes glaze over with delight whenever you gaze at the enticing array of incredible edibles to nibble on at the North Market, wait until you see how outrageously delicious it all looks when you have your beer goggles on. Well, you're going to get that chance this weekend when the market rolls out the barrels for its third-annual Microbrew Festival.

Now if you're the type of imbiber still stuck swilling on Bud Light and other like-minded anemic washes, maybe it's time you wake up and smell the hops - because this town produces some top-notch suds that actually have flavor and body.

The festival's lineup is a roll call of these local experts: Barley's and Barley's Smokehouse, Columbus Brewing Company, Elevator Brewery, Gordon Biersch, Hoster Brewing and, commuting in from Zanesville, the memorably named Weasel Boy Brewing Company.

The tastings take place from 5-9 p.m. Friday and again from 12-7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15 (which includes a commemorative pint glass and 10 tasting tickets). Look for discount coupons at the breweries mentioned above. Bottoms up! Visit NorthMarket.com for details.
