Opera lovers were treated to a special behind-the-scenes experience last Friday -- an up-close rehearsal of Opera Columbus' The Pearl Fishers, held at Upper Arlington's Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Guests gathered afterward for a meet-and-greet at La Chatelaine on Lane Avenue, where they enjoyed cocktails and delicious food. The evening was a great opportunity for people who may not be familiar with opera to talk with performers, directors and aficionados in a casual setting.

Miranda Willis and Jeremy Jones were among several opera first-timers we met. "[ The Pearl Fishers] was really wonderful! Opera is a newfound love for us," Willis said.

The Pearl Fishers will be performed at the Ohio Theatre at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26. Click to OperaColumbus.org for info.
