Just a few years ago, Wolf Eyes was the most famous noise band on the planet. Signed to Sub Pop, darlings of Pitchfork, playing big fests like Coachella - you'd think they were Fleet Foxes or something.

Frankly, the Detroit trio is still probably noise's best-known ambassador, but they seem to have retreated back into the niche that nursed them. None of their many releases since 2004's Burned Mind have generated much attention outside noise circles.

That's fine if it means Wolf Eyes' freeform hardcore catharsis can fit into Skylab for the kind of up-close-and-personal eardrum-drubbing they made their name on. Joining them will be local brothers in arms Brad Griggs, Biff Boff Barf and Envenomist, plus hardcore band of the moment Vile Gash, who supposedly don't like press coverage. Well, Vile Gash Vile Gash Vile Gash!
