How did you get into bartending?

I was going to college at OSU and serving at Outback Steakhouse. A position came open and I thought, Gee, that would be fun. I'm good at drinking, so I'll probably be good at making drinks.

What's the best part about bartending?

It's really fun to meet new people, and here I have a lot of regulars. Some of my regulars are my friends, and I go out and have drinks with them.

Where do you go when you're not at work?

I like to go to Bar 23 right down the street, and sometimes Eleven. I'm a big restaurant fan. I like to hang out at restaurants, so I'll go out to Easton and hang out at Cheesecake Factory or Brio. At restaurant bars, you get to sit and chat with the bartender.

What makes a good bartender?

I'm a naturally chatty person. I think you have to be to be a bartender. You have to be chatty and outgoing, but you have to know how to make a good drink.

People want to drink because they want to have fun, but they want it to taste good, too. It's really about tasting good, not just about drinking some vodka or Scotch in a glass.

What kind of crowd does Morton's get?

We get a lot of Nationwide people. We get a lot of people who want to hop down and have a drink between home and work. It's their buffer.

Is Morton's a popular spot for hockey fans?

We definitely get a fair amount of Blue Jackets fans. There is one couple and a gentleman who come in before every home game. It's so convenient ... it's not even a block to walk over to the arena.

It's so cool they are going to make the playoffs this year. It's about time. I can't wait to see what that does for our business - I expect to be busy with the playoffs in town.
