Simultaneously refreshing and rich, this lovely yet hulkingly large sandwich marries tart and creamy goat cheese to crunchy cucumber discs, grassy sprouts and pristine pieces of avocado.

What and how much: Pesto Avocado ($9)

Where: Cafe Corner, a teeny place with a huge talent for making sandwiches. Knock 'em back on the Corner's relaxing little deck-like patio which is currently prime for al fresco dining.

Why: A veggie-fueled reverie of summer that will please even the meat-mad masses

Eat it: Simultaneously refreshing and rich, this lovely yet hulkingly large sandwich marries tart and creamy goat cheese to crunchy cucumber discs, grassy sprouts and pristine pieces of avocado.

The happy union nimbly implements a walnutty pesto with plenty of basil punch for its condiment and the toasty, "old-world" bread delivers a muscular crunch. This plate-filling, shareable masterpiece is one of those more-than-the-sum-of-its-parts kind of things.

Sidekicks: It quaintly comes with an apple or decent bagged chips, but I recommend springing for the mustardy potato salad.
