What do you like most about bartending?

I'm a natural hostess. When I'm bartending, I feel like I'm throwing a big party and everyone is coming and it's my job to make sure everyone is having a good time.

What's the best feature of Eleven?

We actually have one of the best al-fresco dining spots in the whole city because it's on the main drag of High Street in the Short North. The patio is so large yet covered, so you don't get too much sun or, depending on the weather, too much rain.

You can sit out there and enjoy happy hour with $4 for everything. They're all top-shelf drinks, not well drinks. Happy hour is definitely the time to be here, especially if you get here early enough to find an outdoor seat. That's prime real estate.

What's your favorite food here?

The truffle chips are to die for. They're like nothing you will find anywhere else. They are housemade and so wonderful.

What drinks do you like to make?

I love martinis. I like to make them perfect with a hard shake with nice little ice crystals on top and all different types of flavors and fun stuff.

What do you like to drink?

I like really good Belgian beer or top-shelf vodka or gin. Red wine is just to die for. A decent zinfandel, cabernet or shiraz - something hearty and full. I love wine.

What music do you listen to when you're drinking?

It depends on the mood. Anything from jazz and classical to heavy metal. Tool is my very favorite of all time, but Beethoven is also one of my favorites.

If you could have a drink with any person, living or dead, who would it be?

I would say Vincent Van Gogh, prior to the absinthe-fueled ear episode.

Absinthe is one of our biggest sellers here, and everyone that comes in asks if they're going to hallucinate or go crazy. No, you're not going to hallucinate, but you might get a little crazy. It's 129-proof alcohol, so it comes with the territory.
