"I think drunk people are hilarious ... for the most part."
Neighborhood: Harrison West
Years Behind the Bar: 4
What do you like about bartending?
I think drunk people are hilarious ... for the most part. Maybe the thing I like the most is that the majority of my friends, I've met through them coming to the bar or working with them.
What would you be doing if you weren't bartending?
I'm in school at Columbus State right now for early childhood development and I'm student-teaching two or three days a week at the preschool.
The kids make me laugh, much like drunk people. There aren't a lot of differences between the two, which is sad, but funny at the same time [laughs].
What's the best way to deal with a difficult customer?
Obviously you can't be rude or mean to them, but you have to show that you aren't going to let them push you around. Usually once they figure that out, they back off a little bit. If you're rude to them, they're just going to keep coming back with the same attitude, but if you're nice they're just going to walk all over you.
In the preschool right now, we use tough love. I use the same techniques here.
Where do you go when you're not at work?
I like Harrison's on Third - the food is really good there. I also go to Betty's and Press Grill a lot. Most of my activities are based around food.
What do you like to drink?
I'm a beer girl. Anything that's not dark. My new thing is Sierra Nevada.
What do you like to listen to when you're drinking?
[At Big Bang Dueling Piano Bar], there's such a mix of music that it's fun. One of the guys can play Amos Lee, which I absolutely love.
When I get really drunk, obviously I want to listen to dance music. I like to drop it, which is sometimes embarrassing the next day [laughs].
You also work at the LC. Do you get to see any good concerts for free?
I was working when Alice Cooper was there. I was kind of positioned so I could see it, but I missed a lot of it, which I was upset about.
When there's an indoor show, I can basically see and hear the entire concert. Kings of Leon was awesome. I was glad to see that one.
