1. The crowd, "Woodstock" (1970)

As seen in Michael Wadleigh's documentary, the thousands of music lovers who converged on upstate New York in the summer of '69 walked the walk and talked the talk of the counterculture movement. For three days they maintained the peace promised in Woodstock's slogan despite a historic traffic jam on the way there and limited food, shelter and sanitation on site (lots of mud, though).
