4. Stoney (Jack Nicholson), "Psych-Out" (1968)

Nicholson was heavily into the psychedelic film scene as co-star of Easy Rider and a screenwriter on the Monkees movie Head and Roger Corman's The Trip. He embodied hippiedom's finer qualities in Psych-Out, however, protecting deaf runaway Susan Strasberg from the cops and taking the lead with a strung-out friend on a very bad trip.
