What's the crowd like here at the Dube?
It's nice because you know everybody by name and what they want to drink and what they want to eat.
It's a lot of people who have been coming here for a very long time. The majority of our customer base is definitely repeat customers. It's people that come in every day or at least four times a week. So it's pretty easy to build a rapport with people.
There are some older people, but also OSU students and a lot of Clintonville residents.
What makes a good bartender?
You have to be able to multitask and carry on a conversation with three different people at the same time while keeping their drinks full and helping the servers. So it's important to be able to do more than one thing at a time.
What do you drink?
I'm a whiskey girl. I like Jameson. I'll drink a beer every now and then, but mostly just whiskey. Just straight up - no ice, and I don't like to mix it with anything.
What do you like to do when you're not at work?
I have a four-year-old son, so I spend a lot of time with my family. I like outdoor activities when it's nice out. We do boy things like ride bikes, play basketball and just run around.
Where do you like to go when you're not at work?
I like to go to places in Clintonville. I like little bars. I like to hit Patrick J's and O'Reilly's.
I'll go to St. James Tavern if I'm going out of the neighborhood. It's a great bar. Everything is reasonably priced and there's always a bunch of fun people in there. It's more fun to go to bars where restaurant staffs hang out.
Is it more fun to serve restaurant workers?
Oh, definitely. They always have good stories. A lot of people from Alana's come in here after work and they're pretty fun. Restaurant people tend to tip better and are more understanding if you're busy.
What's the best dish to have after a day of OSU tailgating?
The Mexican food here is really good. The breakfast burrito is probably one of the most popular things on the menu. It's really inexpensive for the amount of food you get. We sell a million of them.
