This weekend, Columbus is the center of the vintage baseball universe. At the Ohio Cup Vintage Base Ball Festival, men's and women's teams from eight states gather to compete on five fields, playing with the rules, equipment and uniforms of the mid-19th century. And as competition heats up between teams such as the Frosty Sons of Thunder from Somerset, Pennsylvania, and the Rock Springs Ground Squirrels from Decatur, Illinois, long-standing home team the Ohio Muffins will celebrate its 29th year of interpreting base ball from the 1860s (the name of the game was two separate words back in the day). -Melissa Starker
