Hometown: Victorian Village
Years behind the bar: 12
You've worked here for 12 years. What is it about Lucky's that you like so much?
There are a lot of regulars. They're more friends than customers. And everyone that works here has been here a long time, so it's like a little family.
What does it take to be a good bartender?
You have to be courteous and fun, and be people's friend and babysitter at the same time. Also, be quick to make their drink and not get caught up in one conversation too long.
What are people drinking here?
Beer. Mixed drinks are typically Captain and Coke or Jack and Coke. It's not a lot of the froufrou stuff, even though we can make that stuff.
We got Iron City in for the Pittsburgh folks because this has become a Pittsburgh bar, whether we like it or not. I'm a Bengals fan.
What do you like to drink?
I drink beer and shots. The Berry Crunk Bomb is probably my favorite shot right now. But I'll do whiskey or tequila. It depends on my mood.
Where do you like to go get a drink?
I come here for the Berry Crunk Bombs because it's the only place that has them. But I don't get to go out a lot because I'm in school, too. I'm in a bowling league, so every Saturday I'll have a few drinks at the bowling alley.
How long have you been a bowler?
I've been bowling just a couple years. My fiance got me into it. He's really good, with a 230 average as opposed to my 130 average. He got me a ball and bag and some shoes for Christmas a couple of years ago. Now I'm a little bowler.
What would you be doing if you weren't bartending?
I'm going to sit for the CPA exam soon. I have a couple of semesters left before I finish and then I'll become an accountant.
Got any good stories from bartending?
I had one little old couple who met here. I hooked them up because she asked me if she should buy him a drink and I said sure, because he seemed really nice. They got married a month after they met and they're still together. It's been, like, five years. I got to play matchmaker.
