The malls may seem like one-stop destinations for holiday shopping, but can you go all Dickensian and pick up a fresh Christmas duck at one of them? Not likely. You'll get closer to an all-inclusive experience at North Market's Holiday Open House and Craft Extravaganza this weekend

The malls may seem like one-stop destinations for holiday shopping, but can you go all Dickensian and pick up a fresh Christmas duck at one of them? Not likely. You'll get closer to an all-inclusive experience at North Market's Holiday Open House and Craft Extravaganza this weekend. On the main floor, vendors offer food samples and tips and tools for holiday meals; upstairs, over 40 local craftspeople present their wares for gifting, including hand-cut silver jewelry by Magpie and Molly (featured in last week's Alive), silkscreened tees and wristbands by Bootleg (pictured) and ornaments by Andy Glass, Girl Pie and Jonathan Juravich. Instead of holiday Muzak and fast food aromas, expect live tunes by Willie Phoenix and other local favorites, plus chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
