For locals who love to collect and give original art, this first weekend of December brings two of the best-known, most hotly anticipated buying events of the season. Ohio Designer Craftsmen's annual Winterfair, kicking off Friday, has expanded to three days this year and presents items by 400 regional artists working in mediums from photography to ceramics, such as funky teapots by Indiana's Jim Kemp (pictured). On Saturday, Columbus College of Art and Design offers its 2009 Holiday Art Sale, a selection of fine art at reasonable prices from over 100 student and alumni artists. A $50 early admission fee is required for first pickings before 10:30 a.m., but all proceeds from the sale benefit local artists or CCAD's scholarship program.
