Getting the blues seems all but required when a venue for an annual benefit show closes unexpectedly, but having the blues was already a requirement for this one. And fortunately, after Whiskey Dick's abruptly went dark, Sean Carney's Blues for the Cure found a new home at Vonn Jazz Lounge. Now in its third year, the fundraiser features an impressive roster of local and national favorites. Over two days, expect performances by Gus Lambros, Johnnie Bassett & the Blues Insurgents and Candye Kane (pictured), as well as the Don Norman Blues Band, Micah Kesselring and, of course, the Sean Carney Band. All proceeds benefit the Stefanie Spielman Fund and the American Cancer Society. Tickets are nearly sold out, so don't sleep.
