In an effort to rally against slashed arts funding, Couchfire Collective is borrowing a stunningly simple idea from a few New York friends. Here's the gist: Participants in FEAST Columbus put money toward a grant for a creative endeavor. During a delicious five-course meal at Haiku, 20 local artists will present their creative proposals to 60 guests, who will have three opportunities to vote on their favorites. Once the votes are tallied, the winning artist will receive a $1,000 grant, with an opportunity for possible exhibition space. Proposal slots and dinner reservations are filling up fast (hence the heads-up).
