Call Dr. Dog pop-rock's version of the Philadelphia 76ers. They hail from the City of Brotherly Love (sorry about those Eagles) and they seem sonically trapped in '76 - yes, 1976 and not 1776, but '76 nonetheless.

Call Dr. Dog pop-rock's version of the Philadelphia 76ers. They hail from the City of Brotherly Love (sorry about those Eagles) and they seem sonically trapped in '76 - yes, 1976 and not 1776, but '76 nonetheless. Anyone who hears them references the Beatles, but the Fab Four is more of a stylistic springboard than an unbreakable mold for the band's harmonically sophisticated retro jams. After staking out Little Brother's (R.I.P.) and The Basement, they'll play their biggest local room yet Friday at the Newport in the lead-up to their forthcoming Anti- Records debut "Shame, Shame."
