With their latest album, "Public Square," longstanding Cleveland punk icons This Moment in Black History show no signs of ceding the throne nearly a decade into their reign.

Each song is raw, but polished - irrepressible in its boundless energy but also in its restless invention. They're not reinventing their genre. Rather, This Moment continues to skillfully plunder their favorite elements from across the punk spectrum and powerfully repurpose the pieces into something singular and striking.

They'll appear Friday at Carabar, where locals New Creases will be releasing a new 7-inch. Cleveland's Sun God and Michigan's Beast in the Field will play too.
