I distinctly remember hating Hockey when I saw them at Bonnaroo last summer, mainly because the band seemed like one of those all-style, no-substance projects that only work if the style appeals to you.

Returning to the band months later, I wondered if perhaps I was blinded by the frontman's "90210"/"Saved by the Bell"-style oversized plaid, a trend I despise. But no, I mostly still think the Portland combo's brand of disco pop is pretty vacant, especially "Too Fake," which plays like latter-day Rod Stewart blatantly ripping off LCD Soundsystem.

The kids love 'em though!
