The Saturday Giant is longtime Columbus musician Philip Cogley. "You've Heard of Dragons" is his debut, a six-song art-rock concept album about "world domination by malevolent reptilian humanoids" - think ABC's "V" as soundtracked by Radiohead, Pinback and Menomena.

From the opening pastiche of samples forward, "Dragons" is richly arranged and well-constructed. Warm keyboards and chopped-up vocals tensely co-exist with scrappy guitars and drum bombast. Cogley makes fine use of guest Jordan O'Jordan's banjo skills. It's definitely worth a listen; pick one up Saturday at Rumba.
