You were born in Brussels. What was it like living in Europe?

I really know nothing about Brussels - I moved to Norway when I was two. I lived there until I was about eight. We used to ski to school because we lived on the side of a mountain. We just lived like a bunch of Eskimos. It was great.

Do you ever go back?

My dad is a martial artist. He has several schools in Norway, so he goes back four times a year. So I'll try to catch a trip with him every once in a while, but I haven't gone in several years. I'm itching to go.

Did your dad teach you martial arts?

I've done it my whole life. When I learned how to walk, I learned how to kick. It's kung-fu, a Chinese martial art - Jackie Chan, Jet Li, all those guys do kung-fu.

With a hands-on job like this, it helps me to be fast and efficient, but also very clean and in control. It really helps me focus.

What are your other hobbies?

I have a lot. I used to sing and do ballet, so I still like to sing and dance. I've gotten into climbing lately.

Golf is one of my favorite things to do. My mother lives in Hawaii, so I take my clubs there. You can be horrible at golf, but in Hawaii it doesn't matter. It's too beautiful to get frustrated.

Where do you go to get a drink?

I've got to give a little shout-out to Gallo's Tap Room. It's one of my favorite places. The atmosphere is comfortable and never gets too loud.

And I like the Grumpy Troll. They make a good drink and they're really nice.

What do you drink?

I'm a gin fan. Usually it's gin over vodka - I like to stick to the light-colored liquors. But I've recently become a fan of Irish whiskey. It's the only dark liquor I like and it's completely new to me. It's very dangerous, but it's enjoyable. [laughs]

What's your favorite dish at the Refectory?

I like lamb a lot. Maybe it's my European background. So I've eaten a lot in Columbus and I think Chef [Blondin's] rack of lamb is just hands-down the best. It's usually my birthday treat to myself every year.
