To help make this a season to remember, here are 25 ideas to do before Labor Day.
11. Rent a bike
Nothing beats busting around town on two wheels. Sans ride? Rent a mountain or hybrid bike at Handy Bikes, a quality neighborhood shop. Prices start at $25 for half-day rentals, and both the Campus location and one in Grandview are close to the city's best bike trails.
12. Support the theater
Again this year, The Actor's Theatre of Columbus will perform three plays in an awesome city park. The itinerary includes "Treasure Island" (May 27-June 27), "Much Ado About Nothing" (July 1-Aug. 1) and "Dark of the Moon" (Aug. 5-Sept. 5). Free shows start at 8 p.m. Thursdays-Sundays.
13. Sip sangria in the shade
Barcelona Restaurant & Bar
Sangria's kind of like spritzer - but it's from Spain, so it's cool. No one does refreshing fruit-and-wine cocktails better than Barcelona, which also offers one of the prettiest patios in town. White, red and peach blends will fill carafes all season.
14. Visit a local vineyard
The Winery at Otter Creek
This relatively new winery is located at a small, charming farm about 45 minutes from Columbus. It doesn't offer formal tours, but this summer you can wander through grounds and taste eight wines for $3 from 4-9 p.m. Wednesdays-Fridays and 12-9 p.m. Saturdays.
15. Explore a cave
Tired of running up the electric bill keeping cool? The Ohio Caverns remain a pleasant 54 degrees all year. Plus, this underground network is the state's largest and prettiest, featuring stalactites, stalagmites and the like. Tours run 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily through Oct. 31.
