You may have noticed this week's Alive looks a little different than last week's. I sure hope you noticed, anyway, because we've been working hard for months now revamping the look and feel of the paper, as well as our website, ColumbusAlive.com.

You may have noticed this week's Alive looks a little different than last week's. I sure hope you noticed, anyway, because we've been working hard for months now revamping the look and feel of the paper, as well as our website, ColumbusAlive.com.

Some of the changes are cosmetic, like our fancy new "circle-a!" cover logo, and an emphasis on showing off our outstanding photography both in print and online.

Others are functional changes, like making the paper easier than ever to navigate (our new page headers tell you which section you're in and what kind of story you're looking at, whether it's a review, a Q&A, etc.) and improving online commenting (you no longer have to go to an outside site to comment on our stories).

Other changes are much bigger. They involve you, our readers.

Here at Alive, we consider ourselves to know more about everything that's fun in Columbus - where to eat, what bands to check out, where to shop, what to do this weekend - than any other 17 people in this city. And we hope you think of us as your trusted friends, the first ones you ask when you have out-of-town visitors and want to show Columbus off.

But our huge egos aside, we know we don't know everything.

We've been getting to know a lot of you for the past few months on our Facebook page, and you guys are pretty damn cool. You're foodies with delicious finds we haven't yet discovered, artists who know about grassroots shows, fans of under-the-radar bands.

Imagine how awesome it'd be if we combined our collective expertise and turned it into the ultimate guide to everything that's cool in Columbus. Well, that's exactly what we're going to do on The Boards, our new message boards on ColumbusAlive.com.

This is your formal invitation to come hang out with us on The Boards - we want you to review your favorite restaurants, to hype your favorite music, to share your favorite Columbus cocktails. And in return, we'll show off some of those reader picks each week in the paper.

To kick things off, I'd like to invite you to a happy hour celebration with the Alive staff - 5 p.m. tonight at Bar 23 in the Short North. Bar 23 is a favorite of reader Shannon Sisco, and you can read about why she's a regular there on page 68.

Come hang out with us, have a drink with us and tell us what you like and don't like about the new design. Or what you liked and didn't like about the "Lost" finale. We're not picky.
