1. Local produce

"When you buy your vegetables and produce, support your local, organic market. It's a wonderful thing to have in your community. All of our produce, all of our big meats come from North Market. And even our seafood. They have a beautiful seafood department."

2. Cheese

"I believe that everybody should use cheese in everything they can. I'm a sharp cheddar girl. And I also make cheese. We made homemade ricotta at the restaurant for gnudi - it's like the inside of a ravioli - and I make it sometimes at home. Using lemons and milk and making cheese - it's an amazing process."

3. Garlic

"We love garlic. I do a lot of seafood, and we do a lot of garlic in the mussels. We go through a couple of these garlic shoots a year. They're a summer specialty item. They look like scallions. I'm going to julienne them and put them in my coleslaw."

4. Bacon

"I'm a huge bacon fan. I will cook snacks of bacon with organic granulated maple sugar and bake it so it's sweet and salty, all at the same time. We have barbecues once every two weeks, probably. We have two grills outside. These are baby-back ribs and a huge pork belly I'm going to braise down for hours for the North Market's Grillmasters Festival competition."
