Why you should go:

In its second year, Franklinton's Go West! block party has expanded to include live music from five local bands, more art spaces and even kids activities. Again, the famed Tommy's Diner will act as a hub for the goings-on, staying open late to serve delicious eats.

What to eat & drink:

Tommy's Diner is truly a Columbus landmark. The diner was built in 1946 and has retained much of the same look and feel over the decades. They serve traditional diner fare - burgers, steak and eggs, manhole-sized pancakes - plus authentic Greek dishes.

Magic Hat Brewing Co. will be pouring its staple #9 and the seasonal Wacko English ale. And Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams will serve dessert. (Is there any festival they aren't at?)

Entertainment:

There's quite a lineup this year. Headliners Karate Coyote, coming off their strong March release "Inner Animals," will play their brand of blissful indie pop. Also set to perform are local jazz legend Arnett Howard, DIY folksters Old Hundred, '90s-inspired indie rockers The Kyle Sowashes and country songstress Lydia Loveless.

Don't miss:

The art. Four makeshift studios will show exhibitions curated by the Franklinton Arts District, as well as pieces from artists in the neighborhood.
