On May 27, Alexandria Reese was driving a friend to her boyfriend's house on the Near East Side when a stray bullet pierced her neck. Today, she remains in a local ICU, paralyzed from the neck down.

In the face of the tragedy, friends, family and the local music community have come together to raise prayers and money for Reese's hospital bills.

"The fact that she was an innocent victim and the senselessness of the thing - people really connected with that and realized that she would need a lot of support," boyfriend Dan Lerner said. "A lot of people knew of her even if they didn't know her."

Benefits are being thrown at numerous local venues, and collections will be held at Goodale Park throughout ComFest weekend. For a schedule and donation info, check out prayersforalix.com.
