The city's hippest hot dog shop also serves up some notably cold cans. And some ice-cold suds will make your visit to this small, baseball-themed eatery more comfortable - it's routinely slammed. In addition to PBR, you can also sample cold cans of Burger, Blatz, Black Label, Southern Star Bombshell Blonde, Guinness and Tecate. Their spiked slushies will hit the cool-down spot, too.

Temperature: 35.4 degrees (Monday, July 19, 8:30 p.m.)

Business at the enclosed Clever Crow Pizza has been booming since an inclusion on Anthony Bourdain's show, but we were there for the ice-cold PBR.

Beer type: PBR

Size/price: 24 ounces/$2

Temperature: 35.6 degrees (Wednesday, July 14, 5:15 p.m.)

Carabar is best known for hosting rock and indie shows and never charging a cover. That's a pretty cool concept - especially because they don't jack up the cost of alcohol to compensate. The beer selection is pretty diverse, but most stick with cold and cheap PBR.

Mike's Grill

724 N. High St., Short North

Beer type: PBR

Size/price: 12 ounces/$1.75

Temperature: 38.9 degrees (Monday, July 19, 7 p.m.)

Mike's brings a needed splash of old-fashioned dive bar to the upscale Short North. The PBR was suitably cold, but a shot of Kentucky Gentleman bourbon made us feel right at home.

Beer type: PBR

Size/price: 16 ounces/$2.50

Temperature: 41.2 degrees (Thursday, July 22, 10:45 p.m.)

Kobo's supply of PBR gets hit hard throughout the night, but the tallboys were decently crisp even with limited cooler time.

Beer type: PBR

Size/price: 24 ounces/$2

Temperature: 48.3 degrees (Wednesday, July 21, 5:08 p.m.)

One reason Hal & Al's may have come in with the warmest can? Their cooler also houses a large selection of craft and import beers best served at 45 degrees. With selections like La Fin du Monde and Lagunitas Hop Stoopid, there are finer selections than Pabst.
