We decided to organize a summer showcase spotlighting the fertile and diverse hip-hop community that's regained our attention in recent months.

One of Alive's goals this year is to throw more events and spotlight more Columbus musicians than ever before. So in addition to our annual Bands to Watch show and the upcoming debut of Rocktoberfest - more on that soon - we decided to organize a summer showcase spotlighting the fertile and diverse hip-hop community that's regained our attention in recent months.

For Summer Hype, we're featuring The 3rd, Alleyes Path and P. Blackk, three of the most impressive rap artists at the forefront of the Columbus scene. We've bookended the show with a pair of hip-hop-infused bands - Stretch Lefty will get you fired up and the Liquid Crystal Project will help you cool down. And you can never go wrong with J. Rawls on the decks.

It all kicks off at 10 p.m. Saturday at Skully's. In the meantime, check the links at right to get hyped up for Saturday's featured acts.
